Cheers to Sustainability: Earth Ale - Our Fortnightly Swap!

At GRAF UK, our commitment to sustainability continues to grow with our "Fortnightly Swap" initiative. This time, we are thrilled to present Earth Ale as our featured swap. As part of our Making a Difference (MAD) Team's efforts, we arranged a delightful beer tasting event for our colleagues, introducing them to the world of Earth Ale and the story behind its sustainable brewing practises.

A Sustainable Sip - Earth Ale's Commitment to the Planet

Earth Ale is a local company that embodies the true spirit of sustainability in brewing. Beyond just crafting exceptional beer, they passionately advocate for environmental conservation. A percentage of all their sales goes towards supporting Wild Oxfordshire's nature recovery projects, with a particular focus on the vital hedgerow project.

By creating "nature highways," these hedgerows allow insects and animals to move safely between spaces while providing a crucial source of food, shelter, and protection for wildlife. Earth Ale's commitment to preserving nature aligns perfectly with our own dedication to making a difference in the environment.

The founders of Earth Ale believe that sourcing ingredients from local foragers and suppliers is not only beneficial for the environment but also for creating unique and distinct flavours. By selecting indigenous ingredients, they celebrate the richness of their surroundings, making each sip a celebration of the land's bounty.

But their sustainability efforts don't stop there. Earth Ale takes every opportunity to avoid waste, making use of excess beer in innovative ways. They repurpose it into delicious vinegars and collaborate with like-minded artisans, such as Orange Bakery, Forge House Bakery, and Imma the Bakery, who utilise Earth Ale's spent grain and underfill cans in their mouth-watering loaves.

Even their spent yeast finds new life as it's used to wash plant-based blue cheese by La Fauxmagerie in London. What can't be used in food, Earth Ale donates to a local farmer to feed animals, or it goes to an artisanal soap maker to blend into her hand-made soaps.

At the brewery, Earth Ale also uses solar panels to power their operations, and any excess materials are composted on-site, ensuring their brewing process has a minimal environmental impact.

A Tasting Experience to Remember

To showcase the delicious and sustainable flavours of Earth Ale, we organised an exclusive beer tasting event for our colleagues. It was a memorable occasion where everyone had the opportunity to savour the unique tastes and learn about the eco-conscious brewing practises behind each sip.

The tasting event fostered a deeper connection between GRAF UK and Earth Ale, further solidifying our shared commitment to sustainability and community impact. The team was genuinely impressed with the care and passion Earth Ale puts into crafting their beer while making a positive difference in the world.

Take Earth Ale Home - A Sustainable Swap to Regular Beer

As part of our "Fortnightly Swap" each colleague had the chance to take home some cans of Earth Ale. This sustainable swap from regular beer not only tantalised taste buds but also served as a meaningful step towards a greener, more responsible future.

We believe that sustainability is not just a trend but a conscious choice that we can all make. With Earth Ale as our Fortnightly Swap, we are excited to showcase how a simple shift in our choices can have a profound impact on the environment.

Cheers to sustainability and making a difference together.
