Sprint today!

Thomas Edison once wrote, "My success is due more to my ability to work continuously on one thing without stopping, than to any other single quality."

How about you?

When you are working on an important project, a big quote or presentation, or your #1 priority for the day, do you stay focused until you have completed that task? Or do you allow yourself to fall into the dark, deep pit of multi-tasking (or as I like to call it, NOT getting stuff done).

There's a reason texting and driving is illegal, because let's face it - how well can you focus on the #1 task (driving) when you've got your eyes on your phone instead of the road? You are risking your own life as well as the lives of others. And it's the same with your goals. You put your success at risk each time you turn your eyes to other tasks and distractions (emails, texts, etc.).

My challenge for myself today (and I thought it might be relevant to you too, which is why I'm choosing to share it), is to stop multitasking and just GET FOCUSED.

Action for today:

  1. My tip: use a countdown clock.
  2. Set it for 45 mins and work on only one project.
  3. Shut your door, turn off your email and your phone.
  4. No distractions. Single minded focus.
  5. Head down… now sprint!

At the 45 min mark get up and move around for a bit. Check your messages and get back to people.

You will be amazed how focused & productive you can be in a short 45-minute sprint!

Sprint (at least) three times today.

Even on the busiest day, it is possible to shut yourself off for 45 minutes.

Try it & see what results you get (and don't forget to tell others so they know not to put calls through or interrupt you).

Let's all try being more like Thomas Edison and work continuously on one thing without stopping. If it worked for him, it's most likely to be good for us too. Now, go sprint!
