Contamination of rainwater

In the assessment of contamination of rainwater, DWA data sheet M-153 distinguishes the following types of contamination: contamination of water by air (e. g. by heavy traffic, heavy industry), surface contamination (e. g. roads, car parks) and contact contamination (e. g. copper or zinc roofs. Depending on the assessment of the pollution, appropriate treatment systems such as filters or sedimentation systems are to be used in the drainage of surfaces.
